Locksmith in White HillsRekey. Repair.
Replace, if it needs it.

Most locks in White Hills do not need replacing. They need new pins, a clean cylinder, or a strike moved a few millimetres so the bolt stops fighting the frame. We start with the least invasive fix, say plainly what we see, and only move up the list when the hardware has truly reached the end of its life. We serve Hyde Park as well.

Tell us what your White Hills door is doing

A safe in White Hills is opened with patience rather than force. The locksmith identifies the make and mechanism, tries the non-destructive routes first, and only cuts when nothing else will work, in a spot that can be repaired so the safe keeps working. Afterwards he resets the combination or replaces the lock and shows you how to keep it turning.

How a visit goes

Moving house is a long list, and the locks are easy to forget until the first night. We suggest making them one of the first calls.

    On our way

The priority is a door that closes and locks tonight. We assess the frame, the strike and the lock, and secure whatever was forced so you can stop worrying about the opening.

2021 census: what it means at the door

Every square is one home in a hundred.

  • 52 in 100 homes · older homes
  • About 52% of homes in London were built in 1980 or earlier, according to the 2021 Census.Period hardware on older homes deserves matching parts, not a mismatched modern set. A locksmith who works among such houses keeps finishes and styles that suit them, so a repaired or replaced lock still looks like it belongs to the door.
  • Single-detached houses make up about 49% of homes in London (2021 Census).Mixed housing means a locksmith sees a bungalow in the morning and a condo tower in the afternoon. The stocked van has house-door deadbolts, suite-door cylinders and the finishes for each, so neither kind of customer waits for a second visit.

Let's clear a few things up

If my key is lost, will I leave with a working key?

Yes, one way or another. If you choose to rekey, the cylinder is set to a new combination and fresh keys are cut for it on the spot, usually two or three, and tested in each door they should open. If you prefer to keep the existing pinning, a new key can be cut to the lock's code or by decoding the cylinder. Either way you are not left relying on a key that is somewhere else.

My car was stolen with the garage remote and a house key inside. What now?

Treat it as two exposures. The house key is handled by rekeying every lock it fits. The remote is handled at the garage door opener: its memory is erased so every old remote stops working, and new remotes are programmed. If the car had your address on its paperwork, do both before anything else. A locksmith can rekey the doors and, on many openers, clear the remotes during the same visit or show you the learn button on the motor unit.

My key is worn. Would a new copy have prevented this?

Possibly, if the key was part of the cause. A worn or bent key lifts the pins short of the shear line, so the plug binds even in a healthy cylinder, and a copy made from that key repeats the wear. A key cut from the code or from a crisp original is the fix. If the lock was also gritty or the door had moved, the new key would have eased things without settling them, which is why the locksmith checks all three.

How high should the crossbar or touchpad be mounted?

Exit-device makers publish a mounting range for their own models, and in practice a crossbar or touchpad sits no higher than about 1200 mm above the finished floor. The locksmith sets the hardware inside the maker's range and below that ceiling, allowing for anyone in the space who needs a lower reach, a wheelchair user or a shorter staff member among them.
